Country Music Cabaret Evening to Support Restoration of St Catherine’s Dominican Church, Newry

The Dominican Church Restoration Committee is delighted to announce a major Country Music Cabaret Evening in aid of the restoration of St Catherine’s Dominican Church, Newry. The event will take place on Thursday 26 March 2026 in the Miller Suite of the Canal Court Hotel, Newry, with doors opening at 7.00pm.

The committee has secured an outstanding line-up of musical talent headed by Ireland’s rising Country and Western star Gavin Gribben and his Band. Gavin will be joined on the night by the hugely popular Hugo Duncan, the acclaimed Ennis Brothers, and well-known local performers Leon and Kevin Kearney. The evening will be hosted by respected broadcaster Kevin McAllister, who will act as Master of Ceremonies.

All proceeds from the concert will go directly towards the vital restoration works at St Catherine’s Dominican Church, a cherished landmark at the heart of Newry. The church, which holds immense architectural, spiritual and community significance, is currently the focus of a major conservation programme aimed at securing its future for generations to come.

Speaking ahead of the event, Father Patrick Desmond, Prior of St Catherine’s Church, expressed his gratitude to everyone involved. He said:

“I thank all the members of the Restoration Committee for their dedicated work to make this fundraising event happen. I call on all residents and Country and Western music fans from the Newry and Greater District Area to support this excellent evening and help raise as much as possible to ensure the renovation of the Church becomes a reality.”

The Restoration Committee hopes the concert will bring the community together for an enjoyable night of music while making a meaningful contribution to safeguarding one of Newry’s most important heritage buildings.
